Tack: Horseback riding in the Chilean Andes: the saddles and bridles |

The saddles used are incredibly comfortable and built for long hard days in the saddle (although we often do quite gentle rides for those who prefer it that way). They are basically a wooden and metal frame, put onto the horse's back over blankets. On top of the frame two or three sheepskins are laid. In the cordillera we always use two girths for safety. The stirrups are different from European, and the bridles are made of crude leather usually with rope reins.
